Walking Trails

Get off the beaten track and submerse yourself in the natural unspoilt and uncongested Slieve Bloom Mountains where there are a great choice of walking and hiking trails ranging in distance from 4km to 75km. Choose from 17 Slieve Bloom Looped Walks of varying length from trailheads at Kinnitty, Cadamstown, Clonaslee, Glenbarrow and Monicknew. Tthere are lots of walks around the Castle with varying degrees of difficulty. Mountain Bike & Cycling Trails

The Sliebe Bloom Mountains offer a mix of wide forest paths, folling hills and exciting single tracks, providing some of the best places for cycling in Ireland. Whether you are a beginner cyclist looking for a fun, an adventurous day out in the beautiful countryside, or are an experienced mountain biker seeking a thrill through varying terrain blanketed by sprawling trees, the Slieve Bloom Mountains has the route for you. For more accomplished riders who want high-speed action, there are currently 35km of new bountain bike trails (MTB), with trailheads at Kinnitty and Baunreagh. These trails, which are waymarked in one direction and designed specifically for mountain bike use, vary in difficulty. They range from the grade trails:

'Blue' - moderate with some single-track sections

'Red' - Difficult/Severe, with challenging climbs and tricky descent

There will eventually be 100 km of biking trails to explore on the Slieve Bloom Mountain Bike Trail, so stay tuned for further developments.
