Woodland Cottage Garden has been developing for over 20 years. It is comprised of herbaceous borders, woodland and meadow areas. The most recent addition is the formal rose garden, which is gradually being developed. Woodland Cottage Garden is situated in Birr, Co. Offaly. Clonohill House & Gardens
Clonohill House & gardens are situated in the foothills of the Slieve Bloom Mountains, the gardens comprise of a 1 acre site with woodland, herbaceous borders nad walled gardens that overlook the lakes. The Garden is open from June to August by appointment only, please call +353 87 9962864. The Garden is 25 minutes from the Hotel and is in Coolrain, Co.Laois.
Portumna Castle & Gardens
The gardenswere planted in the early 17th Century by the 4th Earl of Clanricarde. There are three formal enclosures, a kitchen garden and the Ladies Garden, which is planted with bay laurel mop heads and old roses. The Gardens are open from April to September from 9.30am to 6pm please call +353 90 9741658. The Gardens are approximately 35 minutes from the Hotel in Portuma, Co.Galway.
Woodville Walled Garden
The Walled Garden at Woodville has been beautifully restored with colourful herbacaceous borders, established fruit trees, dovecote and water fountain. The adjoining stables exhibits the history of woodville, the Persse family and the Lady Gregory connection. Fancroft Mill & Gardens
Fancroft Mill & Gardens is 1.5 hectares of lovely gardens with unique strustural features. Explore the walled garden, fruit paddocks, grass garden, kitchen garden, woodland and herbaceous boarders. At the Mill a major conversation project is well advanced. The Japanese Gardens & Saint Fiachra’s Garden
In 1999 the Irish National Stud created a commemorative garden to St. Fiachra, Patron Saint of Gardeners, to celebrate the Millennium. It was designed by Professor Martin Hallinan, award winning landscape architect. He created a garden which presents visitors with a similar natural environment to that which inspired the spirituality of the monastic movement in Ireland during the 6th and 7th centuries.
